Syracuse Basketball: Tyler Lydon Finally Awakes From Slumber
It took nine games longer than most would’ve expected, but none the less Syracuse basketball’s Tyler Lydon finally exploded with a career best night.
The Syracuse basketball team hasn’t looked right all season. A big reason for that was their biggest star hasn’t shined brightest under the most recent spotlight.
Many including myself were starting to question if this guy could handle the pressure of being the big man on campus. When we Orange fans first started noticing it, they brushed it off saying it’s early in the season.
But once we started getting to game six, seven, and eight, fans started to worry. But after his offensive explosion that was all put to rest, well at least temporarily. Unfortunately his efforts fell on deaf ears on Pearl Washington Day as the Georgetown Hoyas prevailed 78-71.

No one has questioned Lydon’s talent, it’s his confidence that has come under investigation during his short Orange career. Boeheim is on record saying that he wants Lydon taking 17 shots a game.

career-best 29 points paired with nine boards. After the game we saw that aggression continue but more so towards how he can help his team improve.
“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how I played. It matters how we played,” Tyler Lydon said. “We didn’t win and that’s what it’s about. We need to win games and keep moving forward. My ‘career day’ or whatever you want to call it doesn’t really mean much. We didn’t win.”
Shooting the basketball is an art. You aren’t going to hit everyone it’s about fighting through the slumps and staying humble during the streaks.
Hopefully he can bottle up some of that energy for tonight’s game against Eastern Michigan in the dome. We’re only 10 games into the season and the Orange’s playoff hopes are already on life support.
