Ten finalists named for Bob Cousy Award
On Monday, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 10 finalists for Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's top point guard.
The list was cut in half after 20 point guards were named to the watch list back in October. Here are the finalists:
Kyle Collingsworth, BYU: 15.1 PPG, 7.8 RPG. 7.5 APG; leads the nation with four triple-doubles this season.
Kris Dunn, Providence: 17.4 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 6.9 RPG, 3.2 SPG
Kay Felder, Oakland: 25.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 8.7 APG; nation's leader in assists, top-3 in scoring.
Yogi Ferrell, Indiana: 17.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 5.7 APG
Demetrius Jackson, Notre Dame: 16.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 5.2 APG
Nic Moore, SMU: 15.7 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 4.9 APG
Monte Morris, Iowa State: 15.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 6.9 APG, 2.0 SPG; third in the nation with a 4.79 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Gary Payton II, Oregon State: 16.3 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 5.5 APG, 2.3 SPG
Melo Trimble, Maryland: 14.5 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 5.4 APG
Tyler Ulis, Kentucky: 16.1 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 6.2 APG
“The athletes on this list represent the most dedicated and skillful point guards in college basketball,” President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame John L. Doleva said in a statement. “They exhibit many of the characteristics that made Mr. Cousy such a successful player and we are pleased to be recognizing them for their accomplishments. We thank College of the Holy Cross for their continued support of this esteemed award.”
Last year, Utah senior Delon Wright received the award.
This year's winner will be announced on April 8.
