Tennessee Martin turns back Florida Atlantic 57-48

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) Myles Taylor and Twymond Howard scored 19 points apiece and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Tennessee Martin to a 57-48 win over Florida Atlantic on Tuesday.

The Skyhawks (7-7) won their fifth straight because of defense, limiting the Owls (2-11) to 32 percent shooting - 19 percent from 3-point range (4 of 21) - and posting a 42-36 rebounding margin. Kedar Edwards had 10 rebounds and three steals.

Florida Atlantic, in just its fourth home game and first in 19 days, lost its sixth straight. Adonis Filer had 17 points and nine rebounds, Jeantal Cylla had 12 and nine and Ronald Delph had a career-high 12 rebounds.

Tennessee Martin led 31-25 at the break but the Owls took a 33-32 lead on a Jackson Trapp 3 with 15:42 left. The Skyhawks regained control with a 10-2 run and held off FAU by making five of six free throws down the stretch.
