Tennessee State rallies past Southeast Missouri 72-66
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Tahjere McCall scored 17 points, including a back-breaking free throw with 19 seconds left, and Keron DeShields scored 15 to help Tennessee State hold off Southeast Missouri 72-66 on Saturday.
Neither team led by more than seven in a game that saw 13 ties and 10 lead changes.
Tennessee State (10-4, 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference) scored four unanswered points to tie at 62-62 and Darreon Reddick, who scored six of his 11 points in the last two minutes, put the Tigers up with a 3-pointer at 2:07. McCall made 1 of 2 free throw attempts, pushing the lead to seven, 71-64, with 19 seconds remaining.
Southeast Missouri (2-12, 0-2) opened the season with 10 losses but had won two of its last three. Antonius Cleveland scored 21 points with 10 rebounds to lead the Redhawks. Joel Angus III and Eric McGill chipped in 13 points apiece. Angus with 13 rebounds.
