Texas-Arlington beats cold-shooting Grambling State 73-40

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Kevin Hervey scored 17 points with 13 rebounds and Texas-Arlington cruised to a 73-40 victory over Grambling State on Wednesday night.

Jalen Jones scored 13 points, Kaelon Wilson had 12, and Drew Charles chipped in 11 points for Texas-Arlington (4-1), which has won three straight, including road wins against Ohio State and Memphis. Hervey has scored in double figures in all five games for the Mavericks.

Remond Brown had 10 points on 3-of-12 shooting to lead Grambling State (1-5). The Tigers had 25 turnovers and shot just 27 percent, including 1 of 13 from long range.

The Mavericks had a double-digit lead with three minutes left in the first half, and a 33-16 halftime lead. Nathan Hawkins made a layup, Brown had a turnover, and Faith Pope scored on a dunk and Texas-Arlington stretched its lead to 57-26 midway through the second half.
