LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) Texas Tech has promoted Brian Burg to assistant on head coach Chris Beard's staff.

The decision was announced Tuesday, four days after Red Raiders assistant Chris Ogden was introduced as head coach at Texas-Arlington.

Burg was an assistant coach for Beard at Arkansas-Little Rock in 2015-16, and was the Red Raiders' chief of staff for Beard the past two years, a role that had him involved in all facets of the program. Burg was previously an assistant at Campbell and North Carolina Central.

Texas Tech was the Big 12 runner-up this season and made it to the NCAA final eight before a loss to eventual national champion Villanova.
