Tulsa builds 24-point lead, wins 90-81 despite late Iona run

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Shaquille Harrison scored 24 points, and Tulsa built a 24-point lead with five minutes left before holding on to beat Iona 90-81 on Tuesday night.

Harrison was 8 of 13 from the field. James Woodard added 21 points for Tulsa (6-3).

A.J. English scored 31 points on 8-of-18 shooting to lead Iona (3-3). Jordan Washington had 18 points and Isaiah Williams 14 for the Gaels.

The Golden Hurricane made their last field goal when D'Andre Wright made a layup with 6:29 left. Tulsa had its largest lead, 86-62, with five minutes remaining following four free throws.

Washington made a pair of free throws and a layup to spark a 17-0 run to pull the Gaels to 86-79 with 1:12 left. English scored 10 points and Ibn Muhammad capped the surge with a 3-pointer.

The Gaels missed three shots, and Tulsa made four free throws to seal it.
