UAB hot down the stretch in 76-66 win over Stephen F. Austin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Chris Cokley scored 22 points and Alabama Birmingham only missed one shot in the last seven minutes on Tuesday to pull away for a 76-66 win over Stephen F. Austin, its seventh-straight victory.

Dirk Williams hit a 3-pointer with 6:54 to play, part of a 9-0 run, to put the Blazers ahead 51-50. They hit their last seven field goals and went 12 of 13 from the line to pull away.

William Lee made three free throws at the 3:39 mark to cap a 16-1 run that made the score 60-51. Lee missed a free throw with 32 seconds left for the only miss.

The Blazers (10-3) shot 56 percent (14 of 25) and made 15 of 17 free throws in the second half.

Demetrious Floyd had five 3s for 17 points and Clide Geffrand 15 for the Lumberjacks, who shot 42 percent and went 4 of 7 from the line.
