SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) Joe Pasternack has been hired as UC Santa Barbara's basketball coach after serving as an assistant at Arizona for six years.

He helped develop future NBA players Aaron Gordon and Stanley Johnson while in Tucson.

Pasternack joined coach Sean Miller's staff in 2011-12 and was later promoted to associate head coach. The Wildcats played in five NCAA Tournaments during his stint there.

Pasternack was head coach at the University of New Orleans from 2007-11 and an assistant at California from 2000-07.

He replaces Bob Williams, who was let go in March after 19 years. Williams is the winningest coach in school history with 313 victories.

The Gauchos were 6-22 this season.
