UC Santa Barbara pulls away from Cal Poly 86-61 (Mar 04, 2018)

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) Leland King II and Max Heidegger scored 23 points each to propel UC Santa Barbara past Cal Poly for an 86-61 win Saturday night.

Jalen Canty added 14 points and Marcus Jackson had 10 for Santa Barbara, which shot 56 percent from the field and got 27 assists on its 34 baskets.

The Gauchos (22-8, 11-5 Big West Conference) took control with two 14-0 runs.

The first included three of Heidegger's five 3-pointers and made it 22-10 with just under nine minutes left in the first half. The second stretched across both sides of the intermission and included 3-pointers from King, Jackson, Heidegger and Gabe Vincent to give UC Santa Barbara a commanding 48-29 advantage with under 16 minutes left to play.

Cal Poly (9-21, 4-12) got 20 points from Josh Martin and Victor Joseph added 16 points.
