UMass place 3 in double figures, end 4-game skid 64-50 (Dec 06, 2017)
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) Luwane Pipkins scored 13 points with two steals and four assists and Massachusetts opened up in the second half to defeat Holy Cross 64-50 Wednesday night and snap a four-game losing streak.
Unique McLean added 11 points for the Minutemen (4-5) and Malik Hines and C.J. Anderson scored 10 each. Hines and Anderson also grabbed eight rebounds apiece as UMass out-boarded Holy Cross 36-25.
UMass led 34-31 at halftime but Hines scored the first six points of the second half to open a 40-31 lead and Holy Cross went 10 minutes without a field goal spanning both sides of halftime. A Hines dunk and McLean 3-pointer ended another run that pushed the lead to 54-38 with 6:41 to go.
Jehyve Floyd and Caleb Green led the Crusaders (2-6) with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
UMass began a five-game home stand Wednesday after losing four straight with four of its five losses decided by six points or less.
