UNC Basketball: Tar Heels handle Notre Dame in Greensboro
Relocation doesn’t bother UNC as Tar Heels take down Irish in Greensboro
North Carolina’s home game against Notre Dame was delayed 19 hours and moved 50 miles down the road, but that didn’t stop the Tar Heels from knocking off the Irish at Greensboro Coliseum on Sunday.
Six Tar Heels scored in double-figures and North Carolina won the game 83-76 over a feisty Notre Dame team that has now lost five of its last six games.

Justin Jackson led the Tar Heels with 16 points and Isaiah Hicks had 14. Joel Berry II and Tony Bradley both scored 12 points and Kennedy Meeks and Kenny Williams each added 11.
North Carolina out-rebounded Notre Dame 44-26 and had a 17-7 edge on the offensive glass. It was in the paint where the Tar Heels did the most of their damage, overcoming a sub-par day at the free-throw line where they hit just 17 of their 28 attempts.
Matt Ferrell led Notre Dame with 18 points and Bonzie Colson had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Irish hit 17-of-20 from the free throw line, but couldn’t overcome the Tar Heels’ size advantage in the paint.
The Tar Heels, now 21-4 (9-2 ACC), prepare to play at Duke on Thursday. The Blue Devils are 18-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
Notre Dame falls to 17-7 on the season and 6-5 in the ACC. They’ll travel back home to play 14-9 Wake Forest on Tuesday night.
