UNC Recruiting: Tar Heels gear up for official visit from Kevin Knox
North Carolina’s top prospect in the class of 2017 is in town for an official visit
Class of 2017 standout Kevin Knox will be in Chapel Hill this weekend for an official visit to the University of North Carolina. This trip will conclude his official visits, having already spent time at Duke, Kentucky and Florida State.
Just last week, the five-star prospect was in Lexington, Kentucky visiting head coach John Calipari and the Wildcats. Calipari followed that up less than a week later with a trip of his own to visit the talented wing in his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound small forward has taken a number of trips to Duke, Florida State and UNC as well. All of his trips to UNC, to this point, have been in an unofficial capacity.
It’s Duke, though, that many believe has been and continues to be the front-runner in Knox’s recruitment.
Despite that, Roy Williams and the North Carolina coaching staff have been relentless in their pursuit of Knox and still believe that they have a shot to land the likely one-and-done player.
For North Carolina, Knox could be the difference between the Tar Heels being a competitive team and one that has a shot at winning a national championship.
Knox is the No. 8 overall prospect and second-best small forward in the class of 2017 according to the 247Sports Composite.
North Carolina currently has the No. 27 recruiting class in the nation and fifth-best in the Atlantic Coast Conference and signing Knox would greatly improve both.
