Walker, Golder help Valparaiso beat NAIA Trinity Christian (Nov 13, 2017)

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) Tevonn Walker scored 18 points and Markus Golder added 17 to help Valparaiso beat NAIA Trinity Christian 83-46 on Monday night.

Golder made 6 of 9 from the field and Derrik Smits had 10 points, on 5-of-5 shooting, and eight rebounds for Valparaiso (2-0).

Nari Garrett's jumper gave Trinity Christian an 11-10 lead with 13 minutes left in the first half, but Valpo scored the next 13 points - as the Trolls went about 5 1/2 minutes without a made field goal - to take the lead for good. Bakari Evelyn's 3-pointer pushed Valparaiso's led into double figures for good during a 13-2 run that made it 38-19 with 92 seconds left in the half.

Caleb Jonkman, who finished with 13 points, was the only Trinity Christian player to score in double figures.

The Crusaders scored 33 points off 25 Trolls turnovers, outrebounded Trinity Christian 45-23 and held an 18-0 advantage on second-chance points.
