WATCH: Monmouth bench mob reenacts Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam'
Maybe these are no longer upsets?
On Tuesday night, Monmouth went on the road and picked up a convincing 83-68 win over Georgetown. The Hawks improve to 7-3 and add this win to ones at UCLA and over Notre Dame on a neutral floor.
The victory also meant more antics from the Monmouth bench mob. Among the highlights were a photo finish, a Drake impression and maybe the best of them all, the group reenacting Michaelangelo's 'Creation of Adam,' a recreation worthy of a place in the Living Classics pageant.
Je'lon Hornbeak led Monmouth with 18 points, matched by D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera.
Monmouth was impressive on the glass, outrebounding the Hoyas 42-33, led by Deon Jones who recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards. Chris Brady followed with nine rebounds.
This win adds to Monmouth's case for an at-large bid. That's significant because even in the MAAC, King Rice's team is far from a lock to win the league. One of the teams standing in Monmouth's way is Iona, led by the dynamic backcourt of A.J. English and Schadrac Casimir. Besides, the Hawks have already suffered a conference loss earlier this month to Canisius. But two bids from the MAAC is possible. It happened in 2012 when Loyola (MD) won the conference tournament and Iona received a spot in the First Four.
But can you imagine these guys in the NCAA Tournament?
