Western Illinois stays hot from 3, tops Silver Lake 84-49

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Jalen Morgan scored 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, and Western Illinois bounced back from its first loss of the season to top Silver Lake 84-49 on Wednesday night.

Jamie Batish made 4 of 6 3-pointers and scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half for Western Illinois (6-1), which lost to Creighton last Saturday after beginning the season 5-0, matching the program's best start during its Division I era.

The Leathernecks came into the game making 50.5 percent of their 3-point shots - best in the nation - and they lived up to their top billing, converting on 9 of 18 attempts.

Denzel Smith had 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for USCAA Silver Lake. The Lakers outrebounded Western Illinois 39-34, but trailed in bench points 45-7 and were outscored in the paint 34-12.
