What was better than Sindarius Thornwell's dunk? The call by the announcer

Published Dec. 18, 2015 9:26 p.m. ET

South Carolina went on a 24-1 run over an eight-minute span in the first half against Clemson on Friday night.

The highlight of that spurt was when Sindarius Thornwell beat his man down the lane and posterized 6-foot-10 Landry Nnoko.

The Gamecocks remained undefeated -- improving to 10-0 -- with a 65-59 win over the Tigers.

But what was better than Thornwell's slam?

The call by Andy Demetra, the play-by-play announcer for South Carolina.

"Sindarius Thornwell elevated, detonated and and left bits of orange scattered onto the basket in Greenville!" Demetra said.

Thornwell finished with eight points.

The Gamecocks head to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on Tuesday to face St. John's.
