LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Andrew White III scored 18 points and Jack McVeigh added 16 to lead Nebraska to an easy 97-51 win over Mississippi Valley State in the season opener for both schools Saturday.

Nebraska opened up a 19-7 lead with 11:49 left, at which point Mississippi Valley State had three baskets and nine turnovers. McVeigh poured in 10 straight for Nebraska, putting the Huskers up 31-13 after his second 3-pointer with 7:33 left.

Nebraska's largest lead of the first half was 26 points. The Delta Devils cut the lead to 20 in the second half. Nebraska responded with a 17-0 to take a 70-33 lead.

Shavon Shields scored 15 and Nick Fuller had 10 points and nine rebounds for Nebraska.

Damion Young had 13 points and six steals for MVSU. The Delta Devils made just 15 of 58 (.259) field goals, including 3 of 16 from 3-point range.

Nebraska: Nebraska won its 15th straight season opener. Nebraska is now 19-1 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Mississippi Valley State: Mississippi Valley State lost the first of 13 consecutive road games it will play to begin the 2015-16 season. The Delta Devils won't play a home game until they face Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Jan. 4.
