Williamson, Townes lead Loyola-Chicago past Richmond 82-66

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Lucas Williamson had 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Marques Townes scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half to help Loyola-Chicago beat Richmond 82-66 on Monday night at the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

Clayton Custer added 13 points, Isaiah Bujdoso scored 11 and Cameron Krutwig had nine points and eight rebounds for Loyola (4-1).

Williamson made back-to-back layups and Cooper Kaifes hit a 3-pointer to spark a 15-4 run that made it 50-42 and the Ramblers led the rest of the way. Cayo converted a 3-point play with 13:37 to go that pulled Richmond within four points but Townes and Williamson combined to score the next 10 points to push the lead into double figures for good.

The Spiders led by as many as nine points in the first half and took a 36-33 lead into the break.

Jacob Gilyard led Richmond with 19 points, on 8-of-12 shooting, five assists and four steals.

Loyola made 31 of 50 from the field, including 8 of 19 from 3-point range, and used its 9-1 advantage on the offensive glass to outscore the Spiders 11-0 in second-chance points.
