Woodley's scores 28 points, game-winner for Demons (Feb 25, 2017)
NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Zeke Woodley, playing in his second game after being sidelined for eight weeks, scored on a layup with four seconds left and Northwestern State, in last place coming into the game, upset Southland Conference leader New Orleans 83-82 on Saturday.
Woodley, who broke the wrist on his right - and shooting - hand on Dec. 19, scored 28 points for the Demons (11-16, 5-11), who clung to their slim hopes of qualifying for the conference tournament with two regular-season games remaining. It was the 49th career 20-point game for Woodley, the program's No. 2 all-time leading scorer.
Neither team led by more than six points. Erik Thomas' dunk with 53 seconds left gave the Privateers (17-10, 12-4) an 80-78 lead before Sabri Thompson answered with a 3-pointer. Tevin Broyles' layup gave the lead back to New Orleans before Woodley scored his game-winner. Christavious Gill got off a 3-pointer but missed.
Thompson scored 18 points and Ishmael Lane had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Northwestern State.
Thomas led New Orleans with 23 points.
