Wyoming holds off New Mexico 70-68
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Josh Adams scored a career-high 38 points and Wyoming held off New Mexico 70-68 on Saturday.
Adams hit seven 3-pointers and went 11 of 12 from the line, including the clinching foul shots with 7.1 seconds left.
That was enough to offset five Lobos players in double figures, led by Tim Williams with 17.
Jason McManamen added 10 for Wyoming (10-9, 3-3 Mountain West).
New Mexico (10-8, 3-2) led 46-40 behind an 8-2 run. Wyoming then scored 12 points in a row - including 3s by Adams and Jeremy Lieberman - and a 22-7 run put them up 62-53.
The Lobos' Elijah Brown hit a jumper, then a free throw with 26 seconds left to get within one, but McManamen and Adams made 3 of 4 from the line to ice it.
Brown, Cullen Neal, Xavier Adams all scored 13 points for the Lobos, who dominated inside with a 39-27 rebounding edge and a 42-12 scoring advantage in the paint.
