Yale cruises to 88-53 win over Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Justin Sears scored 24 points on 9-for-10 shooting Saturday night to propel Yale past Hartford for an 88-53 win.

Makai Mason added 15 points while Brandon Sherrod, Jack Montague and Nick Victor had nine apiece for Yale, which hit 67 percent of its 48 shots from the field, including 8 of 14 from behind the arc. Sherrod grabbed nine rebounds and Sears was 6 for 8 from the line.

Yale (7-5) never trailed, opening with a quick bucket from Sherrod and later breaking away with a 14-2 run that included a 3-pointer from Anthony Dallier and made it 28-10 with 6:28 left before the break.

Hartford (5-10) was paced by Pancake Thomas, who scored 24 points and had five rebounds.

The Hawks forced 19 turnovers but were outrebounded 46-26 and held to just 25 percent shooting from the field (16 of 65).
