2016 QB commit Starkel feels 'at home' at Oklahoma State
Nowadays, a verbal commitment means more of "maybe" than "yes," but Nick Starkel seems set in his selection of Oklahoma State—even this far ahead of National Signing Day.
The three-star quarterback from Argyle, Texas, is enthusiastic about joining the Cowboys next year.
"I hope nothing changes," Nick told The Oklahoman. "I really feel at home at Oklahoma State."
Feeling at home is important to Starkel, who bounced around from city to city as a child.
"It helped me become a more outgoing person to reach out to people and make friends," said Starkel, whose father was an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over two decades. "I definitely had to come out of my shell a little bit."
Starkel is currently ranked No. 46 at his position in Scout's rankings. His experiences, his father points out, arm him with a valuable intangible that boosts his value.
"He's very flexible and adaptable, very quick to make friends and insert himself into a team situation," his father, Murray, said. "When he comes to Oklahoma State, he'll be able to adapt and immediately get into the organization."
