Three LSU football players were among the16 SEC players were given the honor of being selected to the conference’s All-Freshman 2016 team.

The team was determined by 14 SEC coaches making selections for it, not being able to vote for their own players of course. The Missouri Tigers topped the rest of the conference with a total of four of their own making the squad. LSU was not far behind, tying Ole Miss for second-most players selected with three of their members on the list of the conference’s most talented.

These Tigers selected to join the ranks of the team were defensive lineman Ed Alexander, linebacker Devin White and punter Josh Growden.

All of these players had a phenomenal first season, with Alexander having 12 tackles and and a half sack. The DL was active in all 10 games of his premier season. White recorded 25 tackles – 12 solo and 13 assisted. He was present in all 11 games this season, getting substantial action in nearly all of them.

Australia native Growden, one of many of LSU’s punters to hail from the down-under, averaged a total of 41.9 yards in 51 punts this season. Growden was named SEC co-player of the week earlier this year, with a 68-yard punt against the Golden Eagles, his longest of the season.
