A View from Ole Miss: Q&A with FanSided's Ole Hotty Toddy
Our friends at FanSided’s Ole Hotty Toddy (Ole Miss site) talked to us about the incoming matchup. Editor Drew Moak had some interesting answers to our questions.
1. After a close loss against Alabama last week, do you think Ole Miss will have any letdown this week?
I think there could definitely be a letdown of some sort for the Rebels, especially early. There is always an Alabama hangover to some effect win or lose for any team. I will mention that Hugh Freeze has seemed to do a good job of rallying the troops when his team appears to be down throughout his career.
2. How much of a celebrity is Hugh Freeze over there?
Hugh Freeze has definitely received “rock star” status in Oxford during his tenure. Ole Miss fans have never seen a coach who wins consistently since the 1960s in Johnny Vaught. The wins over Alabama and Mississippi State have really endeared him even more to the fan base over the years.
3. We all know about Chad Kelly, but who are the other impact players on offense?
Most of the impact players on offense come at the wide receiver position. Senior tight end Evan Engram has had a phenomenal start to his season and is a matchup nightmare for most defenses. There are plenty of guys I could mention at wide receiver, but Demore’ea Stringfellow is probably the top man among that deep receiving corp.
4. Who are the top three defensive players for the Rebels?
The top three defensive players for the Rebels would be defensive end Marquis Haynes, safety Tony Conner and defensive tackle D.J. Jones. The defensive line is definitely the strong point of the defense.

5. Biggest concern about playing UGA?
I think the biggest concern is the spot on the schedule for this game. While Georgia has flaws, they are certainly a talented team, and it being the week after Alabama is a reason to hesitate in thinking the Rebels roll to a win. I think the recipe for Ole Miss struggling is Georgia establishing a run game with Chubb and Michel and allowing Eason to have open passing lanes against a young Ole Miss secondary.
6. Score Prediction?
The spread on this game is Ole Miss -7. I think that is about right. Ole Miss tends to play high scoring games, so I will go with Ole Miss 41, Georgia 34.
