ACC weekly honors: UNC's Williams recognized after record-setting performance

North Carolina quarterback Marquise Williams was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week after he scorched the Duke defense for a school-record 524 yards of total offense during the Tar Heels 66-31 victory over the Blue Devils.

Williams had 404 passing yards by halftime and finished the game throwing for 494 yards and four TDs and ran for a score in three quarters of play.

Williams teammate, receiver Mack Hollins, was tabbed the top ACC wideout over the weekend after catching five passes for a career-high 165 yards and one touchdown.

After No. 1 Clemson topped No. 16 FSU, 23-13, Tigers freshman offensive lineman Mitch Hyatt was named the offensive lineman of the week.

Hyatt graded out a 93 percent on Saturday and helped Clemson churn out 512 yards of total offense.

N.C State’s Bradley Chubb and Pitt’s Ejuan Price were named the ACC Co-Defensive Linemen of the Week. Chubb led the Wolfpack with nine tackles and five tackles for a loss during its 24-8 win over Boston College.

Price racked up eight tackles and two sacks during the Panthers 42-30 loss to Notre Dame.

Clemson’s B.J. Goodson picked up nine tackles and 3.5 tackles for a loss during the Tigers victory over FSU and was honored as the top LB of the week.

Louisville’s Trumaine Washington earned the DB award thanks to his career-high 12 tackles and 4 tackles for a loss during the Cards 41-17 victory over Syracuse.

Virginia kicker Ian Frye was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts during a 27-21 loss to Miami and was named the league’s top specialist. Frye converted attempts of 25, 36, 47 and 48 yards.

The freshman of the week was Pitt’s versatile Jordan Whitehead. Whitehead played on both sides of the ball versus Notre Dame. Defensively, he led Pitt with 11 tackles, while on offense he had four carries for 27 yards and two touchdowns.
