AD Eichorst praises Mike Riley's 'unique characteristics'

Since no games have been coached yet by new head coach Mike Riley, Nebraska's athletic director Shawn Eichorst hasn't had a lot to say about him. The AD did have a bit to say though over the weekend to the Lincoln Journal Star.

When asked how Riley could do in terms of having his attitude flow through the athletic department, he offered this nugget:

"It's imperative that each of our coaches and staff members provide excellent leadership and have positive attitudes to foster an environment for greatness. In that regard, we are fortunate to have an exceptional group of people led by an exceptional person working in our football program.Mike has done an incredible job in a short period of time building relationships with everyone as well as a strong foundation. He and his staff have brought a common set of unique characteristics – they are genuine, experienced, hardworking, humble, appreciative, passionate and hungry. Above all they have great respect for doing things and treating people the right way."

It goes without saying that the new staff will fit better philosophically with Eichorst. What remains to be seen is if this group of coaches can deliver a hungry and passionate fanbase a conference championship.
