Quarterback Deployment
Jalen Hurts played a big role Saturday for the Alabama football team, but we discuss how the weight of the game was not thrust so heavily onto his shoulders this week. Tom mentions Blake’s success and it was nice to see all four quarterbacks get some run.
Note – this show was recorded before Blake’s big announcement.
Running Backs
What a wild mix of running back rotation, partially due to injuries that, thankfully, are not as bad as they appear. Check out who really caught our attention and who might be up for another role. We also make some bold predictions about how Alabama may utilize the available depth.
Offensive Line
More shakeup along the offensive line. Probably not such a big surprise but the position remains unsettled, which is unusual for Alabama football. How long can this continue?
Emerging Fullback
The Tide may be sitting on the solution to some of its woes in the running game. Not one but two players may be poised for action in the hybrid fullback/H-back role made famous by Jalston Fowler.
Wide Receivers
Near injuries, designed targets, and pecking order statements were all front and center on Saturday. Tune in as we break it down.
Depth on Defense
Oh how I hate this as a recurring topic. I hate sounding like Chicken Little on this subject and I’ll hate it even worse if we’re proven to be correct. But for all the breathless headlines breaking down injuries on offense it sure was silent when an All-America candidate tweaks a hammy and is subbed out for a former walk on in the opening quarter. Tune in for more.
Note – Tony Brown’s return was also announced after we recorded so there’s an opportunity that some of our concerns may be addressed.
Mini Game balls
Anyone can read a headline, but which players contributed in more subtle ways to the Tide’s fortune?
Alabama’s Next Opponent
This week Alabama football hosts the Wildcats of Kentucky for homecoming festivities. Tune in to hear our predictions.
