Alabama Football Tweets Of The Game: Arkansas
The Alabama football team took on the Arkansas Razorbacks last weekend, and fans took to Twitter to express their…thoughts. Here are some of the best.
There were many great tweets surrounding Alabama’s matchup with SEC West foe Arkansas.
ICYMI: Smoke Em If You Got Em
Eureka Pizza
The one that drew the most interest was about…..pizza. Eureka Pizza (Fayetteville, AR) owner Rolf Wilkin tweeted this out last Monday.
On the surface, it seems like a bold tweet that could potentially backfire in more ways than one. Guaranteeing a win against the Alabama football team? Crimson Tide fans certainly take notice and use it against Rolf if his guarantee fails. If it doesn’t fail, you take the hit on 1,000 pizzas. But Rolf is no fool. There’s a reason that Eureka Pizza has been a successful business in Arkansas since the early 90’s. In no time, the tweet blew up and Rolf was on local radio and TV stations getting free air time for his business. The tweet continued to gain steam and Eureka Pizza even made the Wall Street Journal and ESPN.

Way to go @eurekapizza!!!
Can't buy that kind of exposure! pic.twitter.com/d6tF9vqRSS— candcsale (@candcsale) October 8, 2016
Eureka Pizza got national exposure based on a single tweet. They didn’t pay a single cent in advertising, and didn’t even have to give away a slice of pizza for free. Rolf is a genius when it comes to marketing his business.
The Game
The game kicked off and Alabama football former players Joe Namath and Mark Ingram liked what they saw early from Joshua Jacobs and company.
Man, Harris can run AND block! #ROLLTIDE

“Totin that tator” is now my favorite phrase.
Former walk-on turned actor Caleb Castille enjoyed Hootie Jones’ strip fumble.
Hey @dariusrucker I KNOW A HOOTIE TOO!!!

Broken Records
Perhaps the most exciting moment of the game came when Tide DB Minkah Fitzpatrick returned an interception for 100+ yards and a touchdown. The return broke a school record previously held by Mark McMillian.
Minkah Fitzpatrick @minkfitz_21 set new school record 100-yard INT TD return eclipsing Mark McMillian @MarkMcMillian29 98-yards @APSteadham

Mark caught wind that his record was broken while visiting San Diego State with his son Mark McMillian Jr.

Minkah ended up being one of Arkansas’s leading receivers.

A Classy Move
After the game, Nick Saban sought out Arkansas OL Frank Ragnow, whose father passed away earlier in the week.
The Opposite of Classy
One Arkansas fan/employee did not take the loss well.
Fan arrested for yelling at Bielema: "If I had your record I'd be f****** fired. F*** you." Also said he was a teacher at the school. pic.twitter.com/SvMYqJ2WvZ

To clarify: Should have said arrested after not for. He appeared to argue with officers for a bit before being handcuffed. https://t.co/zHUed8cuWc

This guy didn’t take it well, either.

Imagine driving home with your husband after an Arkansas loss. You look over to see him puffed up in his razorback face paint, razorback teeth that almost touch his eye balls, and razorback hat that blends in with the paint. I imagine there was pure silence the entire way. At least he wasn’t arrested.
Thoughts From The Team
The Crimson Tide defense gave up 400 yards through the air. While they created turnovers, the defensive back group was not pleased with their performance.
Horrible game for me and our unit definitely have to pick it up this week….#BounceBack

When he was done wrecking havoc, Tim Williams was only concerned with finding the movie ‘Dirty Dancing’ at Wal Mart later that night. That reads like a joke, but its not. In Tim’s defense, Dirty Dancing IS a classic.
Need to find this movie tonight at wal mart. Classic https://t.co/T8YkVDJEwB

Victory
Current players, former players, writers, and fans all chimed in after the victory.
If you're a quarterback recruit, the best reason to come to Bama is to not ever have to face this defense in game action. #RollTide

One thing about my home state they may not have all 5 star recruits and stuff but they don't back down from no one. #Respect
