A&M gives Kyler Murray his synonymous No. 1 jersey number
Five-star quarterback enrollee Kyler Murray comes to College Station with quite the reputation. Murray's high school record was 43-0 at powerhouse Allen, including three Class 6A state titles, Texas' highest level of competition, during that run. Murray also won individual awards, twice winning Texas Player of the Year and winning National Player of the Year honors his senior season.
After some flirtation with the University of Texas, Murray decided to stick with his A&M commitment and has been awarded his high school jersey number, which is of course number one.

There was some doubt as to whether Murray would land his old number, as senior running back Brandon Williams held the number one jersey in 2014. However, the coaching staff moved Williams to defense this spring freeing up the jersey for Murray on the offensive side of the ball.
Is it possible the coaches moved Williams to defense to free up the jersey number for Murray?
Losing Murray to Texas very well could have sparked the Longhorns stagnant offense had he chosen to play in Austin and thrown in-state recruiting momentum back in the Longhorn's favor.
How long before Murray hits the field in College Station with Kyle Allen already in place? Can the coaches afford to sit number one if Allen struggles out of the gate against Arizona State? They may have cleared room on the offense for his jersey number, how long until they free up the position for him?
