Arizona hoping to strike gold by offering a two-star recruit a scholarship?
Arizona struck god when it landed Scooby Wright. The former two-star recruit had virtually zero offers from major Division I programs out of high school, but that didn't stop him from becoming arguably the nation's best linebacker last year.
The Wildcats are looking to continue that success by offering former two-star recruit AJ Hotchkins a scholarship, who spent his last season at Riverside City College in Riverside, California. Gabe Encinas over at Arizona Desert Swarm has the details.
"After spending his freshman year at Riverside, he accumulated 101 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown," Encinas writes. "Hotchkins has perked the interest of several Pac-12 schools now.
"Now ranked as a 3-star linebacker according to Scout, he currently holds offers to Arizona, California, Texas Tech, UNLV, and Washington State, among others."
Not bad for a former two-star recruit.
