Arkansas Falls to LSU

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Arkansas gives up a disappointing loss on the 2016 senior day to LSU, 38-10.

The Hogs looked to keep the momentum going from the Florida win but just couldn’t keep up with the Tigers. A lot of fans are wondering how it has gotten this bad.

Anyone watching the game could clearly see Austin Allen just wasn’t there tonight. Allen went 15 of 31 for 210 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The offensive line wasn’t perfect by any means, however, Allen hasn’t been the same since Auburn. I myself am starting to wonder if that injury was worse than previously thought.

The story tonight isn’t the offense. As usual, the defense was absolutely atrocious. Before I say anything else, I’ll give credit to the LSU offense. Those guys were on fire tonight. Let’s be honest, though, Arkansas posed little to challenge defensively tonight.

Robb Smith’s Razorback defense gave up 390 yards rushing with the longest being 96 yards. Just like Auburn, LSU was able to run all over this Razorback defense. LSU quarterback, Danny Etling, went 10 of 16 for 157 yards.

Arkansas was outcoached by an interim head coach tonight as well as just outmatched. The Tigers are ridiculously deep with talent and to be quite frank, Arkansas isn’t. Bret Bielema obviously has a lot of work to do this offseason with recruiting and getting a decent defense built.

As much as it sucks for the fans, I really feel bad for the seniors that have stuck with this team and had to end it this way. We as a fanbase owe this group of guys a lot of respect for the commitment and dedication they have shown to our state and team. Woo Pig.
