Arkansas Honors: 2 on SEC All-Freshman Team

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Arkansas has two players, McTelvin Agim and De’Jon Harris, on the 2016 SEC All-SEC Team.

The SEC All-Freshman Team has been announced. McTelvin Agim and De’Jon Harris make the cut to receive postseason honors. All fourteen South Eastern Conference coaches vote to compile the list but may not vote for their own players.

Four-star McTelvin Agim from Hope, Arkansas, was the number one recruit in the state in 2015 and the third nationally at defensive end. Agim started four out of twelve games during his freshman season and got his first career start at defensive tackle for the Florida game. He is also the first Razorback defensive lineman to be on the SEC All-Freshman team since Darius Philon in 2013.

De’Jon Harris may not have been nearly as highly touted in high school but has been great for Arkansas. Harris, from Marrero, Louisiana, was a three-star inside linebacker. He was ranked 30th in the nation at his position and the 46th best recruit out of talent-rich Louisiana. Harris led Arkansas in tackles twice this season, one of which was 10 tackles against Mississippi State. His nine tackles on special teams ranked him second-most on special teams stops.

For thirteen straight years, Arkansas has had at least one Razorback make the SEC All-Freshman team. Under head coach Bret Bielema, Agim is eighth and Harris is the ninth to make the team in his 4 years. It is the second straight year that Arkansas had two players make the SEC All-Freshman team. Rawleigh Williams and Dre Greenlaw made the team last year. Woo Pig.
