Arkansas vs Alcorn State Wrap UP
The 52-10 win for Arkansas over Alcorn State was on the same level of excitement as watching paint dry but I’ll take the win.
It was a game that was so riveting that on twitter during the game, sports media debated the fun in “The wave”. For the most part, it went about like everyone thought it would. Arkansas won and won handily.
As much of a snoozefest as it was, there were a couple things that stood out to me. One being that Arkansas is still showing that a running QB can tear their defense to pieces. All I can say is Chad Kelly is gonna have a field day if they can’t figure this out.
Another thing I couldn’t help but notice is that Arkansas has serious red zone problems. The call to bring back the Hollister catch from the 5 to the 31 made me feel more comfortable about scoring. Maybe they were still hung over and unconfident after A&M but Enos has a lot of work to do there.
Overall it went about as expected. Jared Cornelius had a great day with 4 receptions for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Devwah Whaley led the team in rushing with 9 carries for 135 yards and 1 touchdown. His lone touchdown was the result of a breakaway run for 75 yards which is something all fans have been waiting for. T.J. Hammonds also got his first career touchdown today along with 5 carries and 29 total yards.
It was a good day as the Hogs moved on to 4-1 heading into Bama. The best part of the game is now that the single War Memorial game is done with, maybe we can move off the great debate for another year. Woo, Pig!
