Arkansas vs Ole Miss: Calm Before the Storm

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Looking around the fanbase, it seems that Hog fans aren’t that excite about the Arkansas vs Ole Miss game this Saturday. In case you are still looking for some hope, here’s a preview of the game.

After a rough loss to Alabama last week, the upcoming game against Ole Miss seems to have lost its value for some fans. Yes it was hard and yes it hurt but it’s time to keep calm and woo pig on. Even Ole Miss fan and FanSided expert, Drew Moak, thinks there could be advantages for the Razorbacks.

The worst part about playing after Bama is the “Bama effect”. EVERYONE feels it the week after the Tide come to town. The coaches, the players, and even the fans are drained the following Saturday. Which is GREAT for Ole Miss. A beat down and tired Arkansas is perfect to exact their revenge for the past two years.

The Key To The “W”

Unless you have been under a rock for the past two years, you know who Chad Kelly is and how good he is at football (Not so much at rapping, though). So there really is no point at breaking down how he matches up against the horrendous Arkansas secondary. Much like last year, it’s pretty obvious that the Razorback defense isn’t going to cause the Rebels to punt often.

If for no other reason, I hope the Razorbacks get this win simply because of Chad (Swag) Kellys rap song. That is some serious cringe right there.

The best defense for the Hogs will be the offense and their control of the clock. Long and slow drives to keep Chad Kelly off the field is the only hope Arkansas has. The kicker here is they can’t pull a nine-minute drive only to kick a FG or flat out not score. The red zone efficiency has got to be better than it has all year.

If the offense is going to work, however, they have to step up on the offensive line. What’s that you say? This horse is already dead? Well, let’s beat it one more time for good measure. The o-line has got to keep pressure off of Allen. The defensive front for the Rebs is the best part of their defense. If Arkansas want’s to stand a chance, they have to get better in the trenches.

Prediction

As much as I love my Hogs, I just don’t see there being a threepeat this year. The difference between this year and the previous is the offense. Although the Razorbacks have a BETTER quarterback than last season, they don’t have half the protection for him to operate. I see the Rebs taking the Hogs handily, 52-24. I think this game ends the fans yelling “It was Bama and A&M” defense as to why this team struggles. It could be an ugly reality check for a lot of fans but we have to hang tough! Woo Pig!
