ASU AD: Jaelen Strong was steal of the draft for Houston Texans
Jaelen Strong was supposed to be an easy late first-round or early second-round selection in the NFL draft. Instead, he was a 70th overall selection by the Houston Texans.
By many accounts, Strong's fall to the third round was a surprise. Ten receivers went ahead of Strong. It was a surprise to many, but the Texans may have gotten better for it. Arizona State's athletic director Ray Anderson, in an interview with Arizona's 98.7 FM, said he believes Strong was the steal of the draft.
"I really believe, from my observation, that Jaelen was going to be a first-rounder," Anderson said via Arizona Sports. "But I think the Houston Texans, in fact, may have gotten the steal of the draft, because I think Jaelen is going to fit extremely well there and will prove that his value is right now underestimated."
Strong will wear No. 11 with the Texans, and the explanation is pretty simple: vengeance.
