Auburn fans are finally getting one of college football's best traditions back

There are a lot of great traditions in college football, with each being unique to its own people.

One of the absolute best is Auburn fans rolling the Toomer's Corner oaks after big wins.

Sadly, it's been almost three years since fans have been able to do that.

In 2011, a rabid Alabama fan named Harvey Updye decided it would be a good prank to poison the historic oaks at Toomer's Corner. Auburn dug to the depths of its horticulture resources in a desperate attempt to save the trees, but ultimately it couldn't.

By 2013, the limbs of the dying oaks had become bare and the university announced it would have to remove the trees.

The tradition meant so much that Auburn held a celebration day in April 2013, giving distraught Tigers fan one last chance to come to Toomer's and roll the trees.

Today, there is great news: The tradition of rolling Toomer's Corner will return this season.

Auburn will be closely monitoring the new oaks it planted last year and will take great measures to make sure the trees stay healthy.

On Saturday Sept. 3, Auburn will host Clemson to open the season. Auburn will be a heavy underdog, but if it were to pull off the upset, fans will have the chance once again to get their toilet paper, run to Toomer's and do the thing that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
