Auburn Football Jumps to 15 in Newest AP Poll

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After a dominating win against Arkansas on Saturday, Auburn football moved all the way up to number 15 in the latest AP poll.

Auburn football is moving on up with the Associated Press ranking them the 15th best team in the country after their big win over Arkansas 56-3.

The jump is not that much of a surprise considering Arkansas was ranked 17th when Auburn took them to the woodshed.

Auburn football is the fourth highest ranked SEC team in the country with Alabama at one, Texas A&M at nine and Florida right ahead of them at 14.

Also in the top 25 is Tennessee at 18 and LSU at 19.

Auburn and LSU both made the biggest jumps of the week moving up six spots each.

The Razorbacks fell out of the top 25 after that embarrassing loss on the Plains. They still received the 28th most votes in the country.

This is the highest ranking for Auburn since Sept. 18, 2015 when they were ranked 18th before getting beat by LSU.

With the win against Arkansas, the Tigers are now 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in the SEC. Both of Auburn’s losses came against teams in the top 10 with Clemson at three and Texas A&M at nine.

The only ranked team at this point left on Auburn’s schedule is Alabama.

It’s nice to see Auburn football get the recognition they deserve, but we all know that there is a long way to go this season.

Ole Miss will be another difficult test this weekend, especially playing on the road. If Auburn were to pick up another impressive win this weekend I think they go up even higher.

Right now Auburn is the third best two loss team according to the rankings behind Wisconsin and Florida State. I think they have the opportunity to change that with a couple more wins.

Let’s hope they continue to climb up the polls next weekend after a big win against Ole Miss.
