Auburn Football: SEC Rescheduling LSU-Florida Could Benefit Auburn
The rescheduling of the LSU-Florida game for November 19 could have a major impact on the Auburn football season.
An announcement this afternoon to reschedule the LSU-Florida game that was postponed this past weekend could give Auburn football a huge boost in the SEC standings.
The two teams have agreed to play the game in Baton Rouge on November 19, canceling their out-of-conference games for that weekend.
Everyone thinks that cancellation of the LSU-Florida game just impacts Alabama because everyone is already penciling the Crimson Tide into the SEC Championship game.
However, Auburn has already beaten LSU and is very much alive for the SEC Championship game. They’re lone loss was to Texas A&M, but they still have to play Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss.
Meanwhile, Auburn will be the biggest fans of LSU down the stretch as they have the ability to give Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Ole Miss a loss.
While Auburn fans will be cheering for LSU in those games, they’ll certainly be cheering for Florida on November 19. That game allows the ability for LSU to get another SEC loss, but from someone in the SEC East.

That will give Auburn some padding if comes down to a tie-breaker between them for the SEC Championship game or possibly a bigger bowl game.
The SEC had to make sure this game got played because there are too many implications based on the outcome of this game.
If it were Vanderbilt and Kentucky that got cancelled I don’t think you would have seen near the outcry, but this is a huge game.
The SEC West race is far from over with plenty of big games left to be played, and that’s why this LSU-Florida game is so important. It’s an opportunity for a team from the SEC West to lose to an SEC East team.
Obviously this game also has huge implications on the SEC West too; although it really doesn’t matter if Tennessee beats Alabama this weekend. However, if Tennessee loses to Alabama this weekend then Florida is still alive for the SEC East crown.
The LSU-Florida game had to be played, and I’m glad they finally got it done. That game could have a huge impact on the SEC race, as well as bowl positioning.
