Barry Alvarez says Nebraska fans will love Mike Riley

New Nebraska head coach Mike Riley has a fan within the conference. None other than former Husker who played under Bob Devaney, Barry Alvarez. The current Wisconsin athletic director had some glowing things to say about Riley at the Big Ten meetings.

Mostly, Alvarez believes that Husker Nation will quickly rally around Coach Riley:

“Mike’s a good football guy and he’s a great person. People in Nebraska will love him. With Mike’s demeanor, he’s soft-spoken and he’ll go out of his way to be around the athletes and get to know the student-athletes,  Alvarez said. Not just football players, but everybody else in that dining hall."

There have been no shortage of people willing to vouch for the Huskers new leader. If he can guide the Huskers to their first conference championship since 1999, he will get more love than ever.
