Baylor hires Temple's Matt Rhule as head coach
Baylor has hired Temple’s Matt Rhule as their next football head coach, according to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman.
Jim Grobe has served as the Bears' interim head coach all season after head coach Art Briles was fired in the aftermath of a wide-ranging sexual abuse scandal that rocked the university in June.
Rhule, 41, served on the coaching staff at Temple from 2006–11 before leaving in 2012 to join the New York Giants as their assistant offensive line coach. After just one year, the Owls hired him back as the school’s head football coach in 2013.
After a rough beginning to his regime, which saw the Owls fall to Fordham of the FCS and win just two of 12 games, Rhule led the school to a 6–6 record in 2014 followed by back-to-back 10-win seasons.
