Baylor-OU feud ratchets up after Bears assistant joins Tulsa sideline

Whether it was a case of spygate or a simple case of not knowing the rules, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is steamed that Baylor assistant coach Jeff Lebby was on the Tulsa sideline Saturday when the Golden Hurricane played the Sooners.

The story is really weird. Lebby is Baylor's passing game coordinator and the son-in-law of Baylor coach Art Briles. First-year Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery, was the Bears' longtime offensive coordinator under Briles. Lebby was also a former player and student coach at Oklahoma under Stoops.

At his weekly press conference Monday, Stoops was asked about Lebby's presence on the Tulsa sideline, an obvious violation of the opponent scouting rule, and the coach wasn't happy about it, saying: "It needs to be reported [to the NCAA] and dealt with."

Briles says he didn't know anything about Lebby attending the game while the Bears had an early off-week. Briles put out a statement through the university on Monday. In it he called the incident "embarrassing" and said he called Stoops to apologize.
