Bean leads Columbia to 34-24 win over Marist
NEW YORK (AP) — Josh Bean threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns and Columbia defeated Marist 34-24 on Saturday.
Jacob Hallenbeck threw an 84-yard touchdown to Juston Christian early in the third quarter to give Marist its last lead of the game at 21-17.
Columbia (3-1) responded with touchdowns on its next two drives with a 1-yard run by Ty Lenhart and Bean's 24-yard scoring pass to Casey Mariucci to make it 31-21 before the end of the third. Marist managed just three yards of offense on its final two drives.
Hallenbeck threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and Mike Husni threw for another 70 yards and a score for Marist (1-4). Christian finished with seven catches for a career-high 274 yards and tied the school record for touchdowns in a game with three.
The Lions' Kyle Castner finished with eight receptions for 112 yards, and the Lions held the ball for 42½ minutes.
