Bet on Boykin? TCU QB is a Heisman favorite
If you think TCU is going to win the Big 12 Conference this season, and if you think maybe the Horned Frogs might go undefeated, you might consider putting down a little change on quarterback Trevone Boykin to win the Heisman.
According to the latest odds from Bovada, the TCU senior is a 9-2 favorite (a $100 bet would cash $450) to win the award given annually to the best college football player in the country.
But what makes Boykin a good value is that the Frogs should be really good. They are ranked No. 3 to start the season and could easily be unbeaten heading into late November. The Horned Frogs finish with a road game at Oklahoma and a home game against Baylor.
Remember, more than one loss by a team and chances are anyone playing for that team is out of the running. Boykin threw for 3,901 yards last year and 33 touchdowns. He also ran for 707 yards and scored eight more times.
Meanwhile, TCU just barely missed out on the college football playoff last season.
According to Bovada, there are several Ohio State players also in the mix for the Heisman, including running back Ezekiel Elliot and quarterbacks J.T. Barnett and Cardale Jones. One problem with betting on Ohio State players is the Buckeyes will be so talented all over the field, several of their leading candidates could end up splitting votes.
