Billings still undecided if he'll take his talents to the NFL
Baylor All-American defensive tackle Andrew Billings is undecided if he'll enter the 2016 NFL Draft or return to the Bears for his senior season, according to his father.
The Big 12's co-Defensive Player of the Year continues to weigh his options. He has until Jan. 18 to declare early for the draft. His father, Anthony Billings, said a final decision could take some time.
"Don’t be surprised if he takes his time,” Anthony Billings told the Waco Tribune-Herald. “It’s a process, and we’re going to deliberate and not feel pressured to make a quick decision. Just like with recruiting, we don’t rush things.”
Billings has been projected as potential first-round pick. The 6-foot-2, 310-pound tackle had 38 tackles this season with a team-best 15 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Billings, who hails from Waco, has recently said he is leaning toward returning.
"Andrew’s just been focused on final exams and trying to stay focused on the bowl game,” Anthony Billings said. “Once we get back in town after the bowl, we’ll start talking about it. But we really haven’t done that, because I don’t want him to be distracted.”
Baylor has had success bringing NFL talent back for a final season. Both defensive end Shawn Oakman and left tackle Spencer Drango returned for their senior seasons in 2015.
