DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Uriel Hernandez kicked four field goals, Delwaun Beard blocked a field goal try as time expired, and Bethune-Cookman beat South Carolina State 12-9 on Saturday.

Beard blocked Tyler Scandrett's 36-yard field goal attempt on South Carolina State's final drive and Arthur Williams recovered the ball for the win.

Hernandez capped Bethune-Cookman's opening drive with a 34-yard field goal, and later made kicks of 37, 32 and 33 yards, but missed a 20-yarder in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs (2-4, 1-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic) led 9-6 at halftime after Scandrett kicked a 34-yard field goal and Trey Samuel ran four yards for a TD and the Wildcats blocked the point-after attempt.
