Bolin gets the starting nod for Louisville
The long awaited mystery of who would start at quarterback for Louisville Thursday night was finally solved when Kyle Bolin trotted out for the offense’s first drive during the Cardinals 20-17 loss to No. 11 Clemson in both teams’ ACC opener.
Bolin, a sophomore, has been in a three-way competition for the Cardinals (0-3, 0-1) starting QB job with fellow sophomore Reggie Bonnafon and freshman Lamar Jackson.
All three have received playing time during Louisville’s first two games of the year and Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino is waiting for one of his passers to separate himself from the pack.
On Thursday, Bolin completed 19 of his 34 pass attempts for 238 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions against Clemson (3-0, 1-0). Jackson also got a few snaps behind center against, surprisingly with Bonnafon lining up next to him at running back, and completed his only pass attempt for 15 yards.
