Boston College, Howard coaches agree to shorten game as Eagles romp
Call it college football's version of the mercy rule.
Boston College and Howard played on Saturday in Chestnut Hill.
This was another in a series of games this year that has seen HBCU schools pummeled by their FBS counterparts.
The Bison were down 41-0 in the first quarter -- first quarter, not first half -- en route to being pasted 76-0.
The coaches for Boston College and Howard came to an agreement that the third and fourth quarters would be cut by five minutes each.
Still, Boston College managed to put up 76 points 50 minutes.
Freshman quarterback Troy Flutie, nephew of Heisman winner Doug, went 7-of-8 for 88 yards and a touchdown pass as the Eagles outgained the Bison, 483-11.
The Bison had 28 rushing attempts for seven yards. They were 2-for-12 passing for four yards.
