Breiner promoted to Fordham coach
(STATS) - Fordham has built such momentum in recent years that the Rams will try to keep it going from within, promoting offensive coordinator Andrew Breiner to head coach Thursday.
Breiner, 31, replaces Joe Moorhead, who resigned Saturday to become the offensive coordinator at Penn State.
"We believe that he is one of the bright young coaches who has done a great job guiding the record-setting offense over the past four years," athletic director Dave Roach said. "He has been a big part of the program's recent success and we are confident that Andrew will be able to maintain and build upon that success going forward."
Breiner served as Fordham's offensive coordinator the past two seasons after previously working as the passing coordinator. The previous three seasons, he was a graduate assistant with Moorhead at Connecticut. The 2006 graduate of Lock Haven also was an assistant at Allegheny College in 2007 and '08.
Fordham went 9-3 this year, making the FCS playoffs for the third straight season. The Patriot League squad was ranked 14th after the regular season.
