BYU defense faces punchless Missouri offense, but Cougar coach still nervous
Despite all of the controversy surrounding Missouri this past week, there is still a football game to be played against BYU. The Tigers are annual threats to win the SEC East, and is most cases, would be favored over an independent like BYU.
But this year hasn't quite gone like that for Gary Pinkel's squad. They went on an epic streak of futility, going games without scoring a touchdown before finally getting in the end zone against Mississippi State. But a coach always worries. The BYU linebackers coach is still worried about the Tigers.
“You never know when they’re going to explode. You never know when they’re going to figure things out and simplify things or maybe take more off the quarterback’s shoulders,” Paul Tidwell said.
“You never know when an offense or defense is going to show up and have a fantastic game. That’s why we have to prepare for every game like it’s going to be a bloodbath. We can’t go into it looking at Missouri saying, ‘They’re only scoring this many points a game.’ Or ‘The quarterback struggles with this.’ We have to look at it as what we have to do.”
